Two tales one journey

Life is a journey filled with unexpected twists, challenges, and beautiful moments—and sometimes, the best guide through it all has four paws and a wagging tail. A couple of years ago, my life changed in an instant. After experiencing a traumatic assault in the New York City subway, fear, anxiety, and PTSD took hold of my world. The sense of security I once had felt shattered, and I struggled to see the good in life. But in those moments of darkness, I found light in the most unexpected place—through the eyes of my dog, Sophie.

Sophie doesn’t dwell on the past or worry about the unknown. She greets each day with curiosity, simplicity, and joy, reminding me to embrace the present moment. Through her, I’ve learned to appreciate life’s small wonders, to find peace in stillness, and to let go of the “what ifs.” Every day, she teaches me that while the past cannot be changed, and the future is uncertain, what truly matters is the here and now.

This blog is a reflection of that lesson—a place to share stories of resilience, healing, love, and the deep, unbreakable bond between humans and their dogs.
